By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize 2026 Closing Season standings remain tight at the top as Progresso FC continue to lead the table, but Verdes FC have the chance to reclaim first place when they face Port Layola Wednesday at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
Progresso on top
Progresso’s unbeaten run—four wins and a draw—keeps them at the summit with 13 points and a league‑best +9 goal difference. Their 1–0 win over Belmopan FC on Sunday ensured they stayed ahead heading into midweek action.
Verdes aim to reclaim first place tonight
Verdes FC, perfect through their first four matches, sit second with 12 points and a +8 goal difference. Their postponed match against Port Layola, caused by a private function at the Marion Jones over the weekend, will now be played tonight, Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
A win would lift Verdes back to first place, one point ahead of Progresso.
Benque, Belmopan, and Port Layola in the chase
- Benque Viejo United hold third place with 7 points, boosted by their 3–0 win over Wagiya.
- Belmopan FC and Port Layola are level on 6 points, though Belmopan’s +4 goal difference keeps them fourth.
- Port Layola, with a –5 goal difference, will look to improve their position tonight at home.
Napoles and Wagiya at the bottom
Napoles FC sit sixth with 5 points, while Wagiya remain winless after five straight defeats.
