By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sagitun GIRLZ earned their first victory of the 2026 Westline Premier Women’s League (PWLB) Closing Season with a 3–1 win over Corozal Elite on Saturday afternoon at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town.
The Sagi GIRLZ struck early when Mikhaila Bowden opened the scoring in the 14th minute, giving the visitors control from the outset. They doubled the lead just before halftime through Premille Hope, who made it 2–0 in the 44th minute.
Corozal Elite responded early in the second half when Christel Tzul pulled one back in the 52nd minute, briefly shifting momentum. But Sagitun GIRLZ restored their two‑goal advantage almost immediately, with Shante Chacón scoring in the 56th minute to seal the 3–1 result.
The victory lifts Sagitun GIRLZ to four points after three rounds, pushing them back into the title race after a draw and a loss in the opening weeks. Corozal Elite, who had drawn their first two matches, remain on two points and now face pressure heading into the final stretch of the short season.
Sagitun GIRLZ delivered their best performance so far to secure a valuable away win.
