By Zoila Palma: Today , the Belize Forest Department held its first Stakeholder Consultation on the revision of Belize’s Forest Fire Protection Act under “Strengthening Fire Management for a Resilient Belize.”
The Belize Forest Department says that this process aims to modernize and strengthen the law to improve wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery, while clearly defining roles and responsibilities.
“Strengthening this framework is critical to safeguarding our forests, protecting communities and livelihoods, and building national resilience as fire risks continue to grow,” the Belize Forest Department noted.
