By Aaron Humes: The third time’s the charm for His Excellency Ambassador-designate Amino C.Y. Chi, who is returning to Belize to succeed his compatriot Ambassador Lily Hsu as Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize.
During her farewell speech in Belmopan on Thursday, Ambassador Hsu recommended her colleague as a familiar face in the Jewel’s diplomatic circles: “Ambassador Chi is no stranger to Belize. This will be his third tour to serve at our embassy here. I have every confidence [that] with his rich experience and great energy, our partnership will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Ambassador Chi is currently Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Los Angeles. He previously served in the same position in Miami, as well as Director of the Taiwan International Airport Office, Bureau of Consular Affairs, and Assistant Director-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Personnel. In his previous tours in Belize, he was Third Secretary and Second Secretary in the Embassy, and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages and Literature from the Taiwan Normal University.
Ambassador Chi will eventually present his credentials to Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam before starting his work here at a future date.
