By Aaron Humes: A shooting occurred this evening in Belize City’s Lake Independence area, approximately half an hour ago. Reports indicate that multiple individuals were injured during the incident, which took place on the basketball court behind the Charles Bartlett Hyde building.
Among the victims are Anthony Reyes, Devon Parham, Tyrique Leslie, and Jahreem Staine, known as “32,” who was reportedly the intended target. Sources suggest a high-powered weapon was used in the attack. It is noted that Staine was recently released from prison, and his current medical condition remains undisclosed.
Initial reports state that several people were injured and transported to the hospital for treatment.
Police investigations are ongoing.
