By Zoila Palma: Recently, senior officials from the Ministry of Education, including Dian Maheia, Chief Executive Officer; Terri Langford, Deputy Chief Education Officer; Sebastian Cab, District Education Officer; Ricardo Gideon, Director of Policy, Planning, Research and Evaluation; Ingrid Acosta, Senior Project Coordinator; and Shakira Sharp, Project Officer; along with Andre Perez, Area Representative for Belize Rural South, met with representatives of the Caye Caulker Village Council and the Ocean Academy Board of Governors to discuss the pre-primary and high school construction projects taking place on Caye Caulker under the Belize Education Sector Reform Programme II.
Discussions included projects scheduled to commence soon and the temporary reallocation of Ocean Academy students. Participants focused on practical alternatives to ensure that students continue receiving quality instruction in a safe and supportive environment while the new facilities are being completed.
All stakeholders shared their perspectives, with a common commitment to placing students’ well-being and educational needs at the center of every decision.
The Ministry remains dedicated to working closely with the community to ensure that the completed projects will ultimately provide improved learning spaces for Caye Caulker’s students.
