By Zoila Palma:  On February 13, 2026, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) joined the global community in observing World Radio Day under the theme: Radio and Artificial Intelligence.

CARICOM notes that across the region, radio remains one of the most trusted and accessible forms of communication.

The integration of AI presents new opportunities for innovation from automated transcription, interpretation, data-driven programming and audience insights while reinforcing the need for ethical standards, credibility, and human-centred storytelling.

 As we look to the future, CARICOM underscored the importance of leveraging AI responsibly to amplify our Caribbean stories and strengthen public information systems across our Community.
