By Zoila Palma: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum used her Monday morning press conference to comment on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, echoing his message of unity across the Americas.
The president said the Puerto Rican artist’s decision to perform in Spanish and reference countries throughout the continent symbolized a broader vision of regional solidarity.
“The best antidote to hate is love,” Sheinbaum said, adding that the performance reflected a desire to strengthen ties across the Americas.
During his halftime show, Bad Bunny shouted “Seguimos aquí” and held a football reading “Together, We Are America,” gestures widely interpreted as support for Latinos in the United States and across the region.
Media outlets praised the performance for highlighting Latin culture and identity, while noting symbolic nods to Mexico, including a mariachi group, a taco stand, and a boxing sequence featuring Mexican and Puerto Rican fighters.
Sheinbaum said the message aligned with her vision of deeper regional cooperation, including expanding trade partnerships beyond current agreements.
