By Zoila Palma: On February 9, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Taiwan signed the Agricultural Product Processing Innovation and Incubation Project implementation plan.
The project will include upgrading processing technology and establishing a food processing and incubation center to assist Belize in developing the agricultural product processing industry, promoting the training and guidance of new entrepreneurs in agricultural product processing and strengthening the connection between production and sales of local products.
“Taiwan has much experience in the area of agro-processing and has much interest in helping farmers in Belize improve their livelihoods.
The project is estimated at a value of 4.2 million US dollars and has a lifespan of 4 years, from 2026 to 2030,” the Ministry explained.
Present for the signing were Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries, Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of State Luis Alex Balona and Ambassador of Taiwan to Belize Lily Hsu, as well as technical personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Taiwan Technical Mission.
