By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Two people were injured during an early morning road traffic accident after a vehicle crashed into a drain at the corner of the Philip Goldson Highway and Belikin Boulevard.
Police say the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, when a relief mobile responded to reports of an accident in the area.
Upon arrival, officers observed a gold Hyundai Tucson (LP BZC 42734) inside a drain, extensively damaged to the front portion with a punctured rear passenger-side wheel.
Initial investigations revealed that the driver, Orvin Coburn, was traveling toward the highway and reportedly drove straight past the junction and into the drain.
Coburn’s wife, who was seated in the front passenger seat, complained of chest pain and was found to have an open fracture to her left ankle. Another passenger, Sherman Hyde, was observed with a cut wound above his left eye.
Both injured passengers were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Medico forms were issued as investigations continue.
