By Aaron Humes: A serious accident involving several cyclists occurred in the Mountain Pine Ridge area this morning, Sunday, with five riders injured and hospitalized at La Loma Luz Hospital.
The cyclists, identified as Roque Matus, Wendell Williams, Oscar Quiroz, Christopher Waight, Leon Leslie, and Joslyn Chavarria Jr., were involved in a high-speed racing accident during a test race. All individuals received various degrees of road rash, with more severe injuries including five fractured ribs for Roque Matus. Oscar Quiroz and Christopher Waight are undergoing further X-ray reviews to check for potential fractures.
Leon Leslie has been released from the hospital, while Joslyn Chavarria Jr. is currently receiving X-ray treatment.
It is the second major incident following the crash of cycling patron Santiago Castillo Jr a few weeks ago.
