By Breaking Belize News Staff: Businessman and DJ Kris Rosado has been committed to stand trial at the April session of the High Court for the offense of manslaughter by negligence in connection with the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of Police Officer Arsenio Cus on July 28, 2025, along the Philip Goldson Highway.

Rosado’s Preliminary Inquiry (PI) was heard on Tuesday before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1 and concluded shortly after noon, after beginning at 10:53 a.m. The Police Prosecutor, a Sergeant of Police, submitted 27 witness statements and 25 documentary exhibits as evidence intended to support the case against Rosado.

At the conclusion of the PI, the Chief Magistrate committed Rosado to stand trial in the High Court. His previous bail was revoked, and he was granted new bail in the sum of $6,000 plus two sureties of $3,000 each, which he was able to post later that evening.

Rosado was represented by Attorney Abibi Moguel during the proceedings. When asked by the court to name his alibi witnesses for trial, Rosado stated that he intends to call his father, his mother, and his common-law wife.

This marks Rosado’s third appearance in the lower court since being charged. On January 6, 2026, during his second court appearance, he was provided with disclosure totaling 108 pages of documents, 21 photographs, and five DVDs.

In addition to manslaughter, Rosado also faces charges of causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, failing to report an accident, and failing to stop and render aid.

According to police reports, at approximately 11:25 a.m. on July 28, 2025, Ladyville Police responded to information of a fatal road traffic accident between Miles 6 and 7 on the Philip Goldson Highway. Upon arrival, officers found a man motionless on the ground. He was later identified as PC Arsenio Cus, 38, of Silver Creek Village.

Initial investigations revealed that PC Cus had been traveling from Ladyville toward Belize City on a black motorcycle when a black vehicle reportedly entered his lane and collided with him. The impact caused him to lose control and fall from the motorcycle, resulting in severe injuries to his head and lower abdomen. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police later detained Rosado at his residence on Sword Fish Avenue in Ladyville. Officers also observed a 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck at the property with extensive damage to the front right side, a blown-out rear tire on the driver’s side, and a missing vehicle part.

During the investigation, Rosado was invited to participate in a recorded interview but, on the advice of his attorney, declined to answer questions regarding his whereabouts or the damage to his vehicle on the day of the incident.

A post-mortem examination later determined that Officer Cus died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries consistent with a road traffic accident.

Following the conclusion of the police investigation, the file was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions. On November 11, 2025, the DPP directed that charges be levied against Rosado in connection with the fatal incident.

Rosado is now expected to appear before the High Court in April to answer to the charges.
