By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC dropped two points at home on Sunday afternoon after drawing 2–2 with Napoles FC at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. The home side had opened the Closing Championship with two straight victories, but today they were forced to come from behind twice against a determined Napoles team.
Napoles stunned Progresso early when Daijon Daniels (#11) scored in the 2nd minute, finishing a quick attacking move that caught the home defence flat. Progresso settled and equalized in the 31st minute through Rene Leslie (#77), sending the match into halftime level at 1–1.
Just two minutes into the second half, Napoles struck again. Daniels completed his brace in the 47th minute, restoring the visitors’ lead and putting pressure back on Progresso.
The home side pushed forward relentlessly in the final stages, and their persistence paid off deep into stoppage time. Luis “Chispas” Garcia (#20) delivered the equalizer in the 90+10th minute, salvaging a point for Progresso and preventing Napoles from taking all three.
Despite the dramatic finish, the result represents two points lost for Progresso, who now sit on seven points after three matches. Napoles, meanwhile, climb to five points, remaining unbeaten after three matches as well.
