By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes FC continued their perfect start to the 2026 Closing Championship with a convincing 4–1 victory over Benque United at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. The Green Machine controlled the match from the opening whistle, scoring early and pulling away decisively in the second half.
Verdes struck first in the 3rd minute, when Felix Martinez (#13) finished a well‑constructed attack to give the visitors the early lead. Despite several opportunities to extend the advantage, the match went into halftime with Verdes ahead 1–0.

The second half showcased Verdes’ attacking power. Desmond Wade (#77) doubled the lead in the 49th minute, finishing clinically to make it 2–0. Luis Ibarra (#28) added the third in the 68th minute, and Wade struck again in the 74th, completing a dominant stretch that put the match out of reach.
Benque United pulled one back in the 84th minute through Fernando Aguirres (#11), but the goal served only as consolation.
With the win, Verdes move to six points from two matches, maintaining a perfect record and keeping pace with Progresso at the top of the table. Benque United remain on one point, now with a 0–1–2 record after three outings.
