On January 23, 2026, Hon. Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Transportation, and his senior team met with Mr. Francisco Hwang, Market Development Manager of Master, a Taiwanese electric bus manufacturer and transit solutions provider, to continue discussions on emerging technologies in sustainable transport and electric mobility. Mr. Hwang conveyed Master’s strong interest in the sale of electric buses to Belize, highlighting the country’s potential as a hub for manufacturing and regional operations, and its growing role in transport modernization.
Similarly, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Hon. Dr. Louis Zabaneh and his senior team met with Dr. Fred Cheng, PhD, EE, Chief Operating Officer of Imeier Green Technology Corporation, Ltd., and a representative of TRON E, a Taiwanese green energy technology company specializing in electric vehicles and advanced battery systems. The meeting focused on global trends in electric mobility, green transport technologies, and opportunities for innovation within Belize’s transport ecosystem. Dr. Cheng also expressed the company’s interest in the sale of electric buses and in establishing a manufacturing presence in Belize, citing the country’s strategic location and its emerging policy direction in sustainable transport.
Both engagements form part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to explore innovative approaches that support the modernization of Belize’s transport sector, in line with the Government of Belize’s commitment to sustainable development and transport modernization in alignment with national development priorities and climate-resilient objectives. These discussions are also a follow-up to Ministers Zabaneh and Chebat’s visit to Taiwan in November 2025.
The Ministry emphasizes that these discussions are exploratory in nature and reflect Belize’s openness to learning from global best practices, informing policy development, and strengthening institutional capacity. The Government of Belize remains committed to a transparent, structured, and strategic approach as it advances toward a more efficient and sustainable transport system.
