By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A routine early morning patrol resulted in the detention of a man after police recovered suspected cannabis.
According to police, on Saturday, January 18, 2026, around 1:55 a.m., officers on patrol along Aurora Street observed a male individual whose actions drew their attention. As officers approached, the man reportedly discarded a plastic bag onto the ground beside him.
Police searched the immediate area and recovered a transparent plastic bag containing a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis. The findings were shown to the man, who was informed of the offence.
The suspect was escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station, where the substance was weighed and amounted to 15.7 grams of suspected cannabis. He was identified as Immer Cardinals, a labourer of Palmetto Street.
He remains detained pending charges as investigations continue.
