By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 50-year-old caretaker/watchman was fined in court after pleading guilty to being found drunk in a public place in Belize City.

Eloy Dominquiez, of a Partridge Street Extension address, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6 of the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was read a single charge of found drunk.

The charge stemmed from an incident on Friday, January 9, 2026, when police allegedly found Dominquiez intoxicated on Cemetery Road. According to police, he was seen staggering along the roadway and interfering with students in the area.

Dominquiez pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and, in mitigation, asked the court to grant him a second chance. The court was told that he is a first-time offender.

Magistrate Dennison imposed a non-custodial sentence, fining Dominquiez $50 plus $5 in court costs. He is required to pay the total by January 30, 2026, in default of which he will serve two weeks’ imprisonment.
