By Aaron Humes: Police have recovered a firearm alleged to have been used in the commission of recent shooting incidents.
On Saturday, January 10, sometime around 4:00 p.m., Independence Intermediate Southern Formation (ISF) police searched an abandoned zinc bungalow structure located in the Noralez Extension Area of Independence Village. This search resulted in the discovery of a gold-colored nine-millimeter Sig Sauer pistol with a magazine containing two live rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition as well as an additional 33 live rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition.
This weapon is suspected to have been used in the commission of shootings in that area, and has since been sealed and submitted to the National Forensic Science Service (NFSS) for comparative analysis.
