By Aaron Humes: 28-year-old Kyrone Armstrong is dead, shot inside a booth in Constitution Park off Cemetery Road on Saturday afternoon. He is the first person to be killed in Belize City, ten days into the New Year.
On Monday, police said he narrowly avoided a similar fate just last month, but a specific motive for his killing has not so far been uncovered.
Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith outlined what happened at Monday’s press briefing: “What the investigation has so far suggested is that Armstrong was inside the booth and a male person who wore a helmet entered the booth and fired several shots, which led to his demise. The male person then made his escape [on] a motorcycle. Police have retrieved a number of video footages which show the activities of those persons [before] and during the incident, and they are being carefully reviewed.”
