By Zoila Palma: On January 12, 2026, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, Lily Li-Wen Hsu met with Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries Rodwell Ferguson.
Ambassador Hsu and Minister Ferguson discussed areas of cooperation in agriculture between Belize and Taiwan and progress in projects both countries have undertaken so far, such as in agro-processing and the recently completed sheep and goat breeding project.
Ambassador Hsu briefed Minister Ferguson on priorities of her government’s mission in Belize and the way forward with these initiatives.
Minister Ferguson and Ambassador Hsu pledged to continue the harmonious relationship between Belize and Taiwan with mutual support and respect as has so far been the benchmark of the cooperation between the two countries.
Also present at the meeting were Minister of State Alex Balona, CEO Servulo Baeza and Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Victoriano Pascual, as well as technical staff from the Embassy of Taiwan.
