By Aaron Humes: Once again, the Belize Police Department has lost one of its own, this time in a motorcycle accident.
Just after 8 p.m. Sunday, Constable Edwardo Cus, 28, was traveling into Belize City on the Philip Goldson Highway when, near Mile 2, he was thrown from his motorcycle after colliding with a metal lamppost in the median of the highway. He was wearing a helmet, but it came off, and he sustained head and body injuries, dying almost instantly.
ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer, briefly eulogized Constable Cus and his time in the Department: “PC Cus has been a serving member of the Belize Police Department for just over four years, and the loss of Mr. Cus is certainly mourned by the ministry as well as the department. Though he has only amassed four years of service, by all indications, he was a very dedicated and committed police officer.”
