Fire wipes out a family home in San Narciso, Corozal District

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a house fire in San Narciso, Corozal District, with an estimated damage exceeding $100,000.

On Wednesday, January 7, about 9:50 a.m., when police responded to a report of a house fire in San Narciso Village, Corozal District. Upon arrival, they observed a 25-by-30-foot concrete structure engulfed in flames.

The owner of the house, 70-year-old Francisca Acosta, a Belizean of San Narciso Village, reported that at about 9:45 a.m., while inside her home along with her daughter, they heard a loud noise coming from the living room area. Upon making checks, they observed that an area of the room was on fire, which quickly spread.

Both Acosta and her daughter exited the house without sustaining any injuries. The fire completely destroyed the house and its contents. The property is insured at a value of $111,000.
