By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk are investigating an assault reported during the early hours of New Year’s Day in Trial Farm Village.
The complainant, a 27-year-old mason of Bottom Lagoon Street, reported that around 1:00 a.m. on January 1, he was celebrating the New Year with family members in his yard when an altercation broke out. He said that while he and his brother were seated, a cousin entered the yard and became involved in a physical confrontation with another family member.
The complainant stated that when he attempted to intervene and stop the fight, a male individual known to him arrived carrying a stone and struck him in the face, injuring his nose and causing bleeding.
He reported that the area was well lit by house lights and a fire, allowing him to clearly recognize the alleged attacker. Police later arrived at the scene and were informed of what had occurred.
The injured man was escorted to the Northern Regional Hospital, where medical forms were issued for treatment. Police say the matter remains under investigation, and court action has been requested.
