By Breaking Belize News Staff: Thirty-four-year-old Errolyn Ionie Brown is spending time behind bars after being unable to meet court-ordered payments following a conviction for possession of a crack pipe.
Brown appeared before a Magistrate in Court #3 on Friday, where she pleaded guilty to a single charge of possession of utensils after police allegedly found her in possession of a metal pipe adapted for the smoking of crack cocaine. The court accepted her guilty plea and imposed a non-custodial sentence of a $500 fine, plus $5.00 court costs, payable by April 30, 2026. In default of payment, she faces five months’ imprisonment.
However, court records revealed that Brown was already indebted to the court in the sum of $915 from previous matters. The Magistrate ordered her to pay $200 toward the outstanding balance before an extension could be granted on the remaining $715. Unable to make that payment, Brown was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
Brown, who told the court she is a bartender and a mother of three children, claimed responsibility for only one of her children, stating the other two live with their father. When asked whether she had a substance abuse problem, she told the court she did not, adding that she was “only guilty of taking it sometimes.”
Police facts allege that around 2:10 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, officers on mobile patrol along Tigris Street observed Brown exiting a yard and discarding a metallic object onto a table upon noticing the police vehicle. Officers retrieved the item—a silver metal pipe measuring approximately 2¾ inches—and subsequently detained and charged her.
Brown is well known to both the police and the courts, having appeared previously on similar drug-related charges.
