By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident on Wednesday evening at the corner of Kraal Road and Faber’s Road resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man and injuries to his niece.
Around 6:19 PM, police received reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Sherlene Butler at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) Accident and Emergency section, suffering from gunshot wounds. Her uncle, Ian Arthurs, was found unresponsive at the scene and was later pronounced dead.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident unfolded shortly before 6:15 PM when Arthurs was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup to drop off Butler. As they reached the intersection of Kraal and Faber’s Roads, an unidentified assailant on a motorcycle opened fire on the driver’s side of the vehicle, fatally wounding Arthurs and injuring Butler.
Police are investigating and have detained one person.
