By Jose Luis Cruz: Belize is reeling with sadness as we enter the New Year, as two young men were shot and killed in the final hours of 2025.
The two men, identified as 22-year-old Uriluke Chavarria and 23-year-old Zion Samuels, were shot in Pomona village in the Stann Creek District.
The bodies of the two young men were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
This incident is a separate shooting from the one reported to have occurred earlier in Mango Creek.
