By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 34-year-old Bowen & Bowen employee is spending his first night on remand after police allegedly discovered a loaded 9mm pistol with its serial number removed during an operation in Belize City.

Lindford Winston Lord, a resident of the city’s Southside and an employee of Bowen & Bowen, appeared unrepresented on Monday before the Chief Magistrate in Court #2 at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. He was charged with three offenses: keeping an unlicensed firearm, keeping unlicensed ammunition, and possession of a firearm with its serial number removed.

Lord pleaded not guilty to all charges. Due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March 30, 2026.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at about 6:48 p.m. Officers attached to the Gang Intelligence Investigation Unit were on mobile patrol along Pelican Street heading toward Curassow Street when they observed several men acting suspiciously. Police say they noticed two men in a grey Nissan Rogue parked nearby.

As officers approached, the driver reportedly exited the vehicle holding his waistband and attempted to walk away toward an abandoned lot. Police allege that as officers identified themselves, the man reached into his waistband and threw a firearm into a nearby yard.

The firearm was later recovered from a dog house at a residence on Iguana Street. Police say it was a 9mm pistol bearing the brand “Guizler,” with visible damage and no serial number. The magazine, containing eight live rounds of 9mm ammunition, was also recovered.

Lord was detained at the scene and later told police he did not possess a firearm license. He was subsequently escorted to the police station and formally charged.

The case remains before the court as investigations continue.
