By Zoila Palma: Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Friday that it will broadcast the Taipei 101 New Year fireworks show live via satellite to audiences around the world.
The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 11:55 p.m. on Dec. 31, with Taiwan’s embassies and missions providing the satellite link to both local and international media, the ministry said in a statement.
Following the event, a video of the fireworks will be uploaded to the ministry’s YouTube channel, Trending Taiwan.
The live broadcast has become an annual tradition, with television stations worldwide including the Taipei display in their New Year countdown coverage.
The Taiwanese community in Belize joins in the festivities as the countdown commences online.
For the first time, this year’s celebration will feature original music created in collaboration with the Taipei Music Center.
The six-minute fireworks show will be accompanied by five musical segments showcasing the work of local talent, adding a fresh artistic dimension to the display.
In addition, Taipei 101 is expanding its festivities with 5 days of year-end events under the “Spark 101” series, that began on Saturday.
Highlights include the “Spark the Night” light projection show, a Disney Toy Story countdown display, projections from various brand partners, and a tribute light show honoring “Taiwan’s Invisible Heroes.”
