By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk are investigating a domestic dispute that resulted in a woman being injured on Christmas night.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:28 p.m. on December 25 while the woman was in the company of family members outside her grandmother’s residence. A verbal altercation reportedly erupted after a neighbor’s dog began barking, leading to a heated exchange between the woman and her stepfather.
During the confrontation, the stepfather allegedly threw a cellphone, striking the woman on the forehead and causing her pain.
Police recorded statements and issued a medico-legal form. A medical examination later certified the injury as harm. The accused, 26-year-old Luis Assi of Carmelita Village, has been charged, and investigations continue.
