By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Wayne Casimiro, head coach of the Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT), has officially completed the FIFA Coach Educators’ Diploma, joining fellow Belizean educator Philip Marin in earning one of the most respected technical qualifications in global football.
The diploma, issued on December 23 and signed by FIFA’s top development officials, marks a significant milestone for Casimiro — and for the continued growth of women’s football in Belize. The achievement comes at a moment when the BWNT has been gaining momentum internationally, reflecting the steady progress of the program under his leadership.
Casimiro has been a central figure in Belize’s coaching landscape for years. As head coach of the BWNT, he has guided the team through a period of rebuilding and competitive growth, while also representing Belize at the 2nd Concacaf Coach Education Conference in Guatemala City alongside BWNT player‑coach Ada Cordova. His participation in regional development forums has helped align Belize’s coaching systems with international standards and strengthen the country’s presence within Concacaf’s technical network.
The BWNT’s recent performances highlight that progress. Under Casimiro, Belize secured convincing victories over Bonaire (5–1), Turks and Caicos Islands (3–0), and Aruba (1–0), demonstrating improved structure, discipline, and attacking confidence. The team also faced a tough 9–0 loss to Haiti in the CONCACAF Championship Qualifiers — a reminder of the competitive gap in the region, but also a benchmark Casimiro is using to guide the BWNT’s development.

Several players have flourished under his guidance, including Roshanny Narváez, named Most Valuable Player of the 2025–2026 Opening Season, and Jayda Brown, the league’s top scorer with Napoles FC. Their growth reflects the broader impact of Casimiro’s work in strengthening pathways for female players.
Casimiro’s coaching résumé spans multiple national teams and roles. Before leading the BWNT, he coached the U‑17 and U‑20 Female National Teams, served as an assistant coach for the “A “Belize Men’s National Team, and contributed to youth development across the country. His experience at every level of the game has shaped a holistic approach to coaching — one grounded in education, player development, and long‑term planning.
The FIFA Coach Educators’ Diploma is one of the most demanding technical qualifications in world football. Casimiro completed all five modules over a three‑year period: Module 1 in Costa Rica (2023), Module 2 online (2023), Module 3 in Guatemala (2024), Module 4 online (2024), and Module 5 in Aruba (2025), where the final assessment was held. He was evaluated across five key roles — Leader, Technician, Teacher, Mentor, and Assessor — successfully completing the full pathway alongside fellow Belizean educator Philip Marin. Their success places them among a select group of coach educators in the region capable of training and certifying the next generation of Belizean coaches.
With his new qualification, Casimiro is expected to play an even larger role in shaping Belize’s coaching structures — particularly in women’s football, where the need for trained educators, modern methodologies, and sustainable development pathways continues to grow.
