By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police have charged a man after a domestic argument in San Lazaro Village escalated into violence on Sunday morning.
Police reported that a woman contacted authorities after alleging she was assaulted by her common-law partner following a disagreement at their residence. The woman reported being struck in the face during the incident and sustained injuries that required medical evaluation.
During the altercation, the woman reportedly defended herself by striking the man with a motorcycle helmet before leaving the room. Police say the man later made threats that caused the woman to fear further harm, prompting her to seek police assistance.
Medical examination confirmed the woman’s injuries as wounding, and statements were recorded from both the complainant and a witness.
Police subsequently detained and charged the man of San Lazaro Village for the crime of wounding. He was informed of his rights and chose to remain silent. Investigations are ongoing.
