By Aaron Humes: The Dangriga Town branch of the Belize Bank Limited was hit by burglars early Monday morning, but investigators and Bank officials do not believe they got away with anything significant.
Staff Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith reported, “The alarms of the Belize Bank Limited located on Ecumenical Drive, Dangriga Town, went off. The officers proceeded to that location, and upon their arrival, they noted signs of forced entry to the rear of the building. And upon making for the checks, they observed that the building was apparently run up. The officers spoke to the branch manager, who stated that from her review of the Bank, nothing was stolen so far. Neither finances nor electronic devices. However, the investigation in this matter continues.”
A Belize Bank statement concurred, “We wish to reassure our customers and the general public that no assets were compromised and all systems and operations remain fully intact.”
The Bank was delayed opening on Monday but resumes normal operations today, Tuesday.
