By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating an armed robbery that turned deadly last night near mile 40 on the Hummingbird Highway.
According to reports, around 7pm, a Sarita delivery truck was found abandoned on the highway near the villages of Armenia and St. Margaret’s.
The delivery truck was found locked and the keys were still in the ignition.
The cash compartment inside the truck was found empty.
When police searched the immediate area, they found the bodies of 2 men down a feeder road.
Raynard Garbutt Jr.,22, and his colleague Robert Alexander Crawford,43, were discovered with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The report indicated that a man driving to check on his farm came upon the bodies and immediately alerted the Sarita office in Belmopan, which then notified police.
GPS data showed the truck had been parked in the area since approximately 3:48 p.m.
Investigations continue.
