By Aaron Humes: A relative of a 13-year-old girl from San Pablo village, Orange Walk District reportedly sexually assaulted her on Monday morning, police report.
The minor and her mother reported that she was at home with two siblings, who went to the nearby shop to buy. She heard the voice of her uncle calling for her mother. When she looked to the door, she saw him come inside and asked for her siblings; when she indicated they went to the shop, he responded that “they both have something pending,” which she did not follow up on.
As the child was putting water to boil, she alleges that her uncle grabbed her hand, pushed her onto a bed and initiated forceful sexual intercourse. Thereafter, he told her not to tell anyone and left her house before her siblings returned home.
The accused has been detained and a medical examination conducted, while a social worker was also contacted as part of police investigations, which continue.
