By Darwin Gallardo: I know the topic is getting battered but i gotta share my opinion.

I feel for the motorbikes. Yes there are many bad eggs, that are very reckless, but doesn’t outweigh the  amount of bad drivers. I spend a lot of time on the road and I think i cuss out more drivers than motor bikes. I feel they (motorbikes) are equivalent to the legal gun holders who are being penalized for the immature few who cause ruckus on our streets and highways.  I feel your frustration.

But we are totally ignoring the facts at hand.

  1. Our highways are in dire need of help. Our highways are getting so narrow, everyone is trying to stay OFF the jagged edges and sometimes results in an accident. We cant blame motorbikes for this
  2. Driving slow on the highway. This is excessive and i have much proof to it. There are those who believe driving 30 to 40mph is being safe. No, you are going against the flow of traffic and you are as likely to cause an accident!
  3. Trucks pulling 2 40th containers. On a press release by GOB on December 6th 2023, it states

“The ministry reminds the public that the law limits the length of equipment on highways to 80 feet. Trucks towing double-hitch 40-foot trailers must stop immediately to avoid legal penalties. ”

“the law limits the length of equipment on highways to 80 feet”

So two 40 ft containers are already 80th…how about the truck? its a highway train!  Just cause you can, doesn’t mean you do it. These trucks can pull probably 3 or 4 trailers easy. But this ain’t Australia!

Again, not hating on truckers. We have trucks too. But pulling two 40ft trailers on a already dilapidated highway, especially going West is extremely ignorant and selfish. You see a LINE of cars behind you and you make NO attempt to roll over to the shoulder. Yes, there are many areas on the highway that have decent shoulders for you to let pass vehicles. Your time is NO more important than others.

  1. This one is for cycles. So when you want to pass someone, you gladly and BOLDLY do it on the right side, illegally. But when you are in FRONT on the highway, you make NO attempt to stay on the edge to allow a vehicle approaching you at 60 to 65 mph….. you proudly maintain in the middle of the highway at 30mph….
  2. Be courteous. If you know you are driving well below the speed limit, then pull off the side and deal with your phone. People who drive slow on the highway, ill pass and I watch them on their phone. Just get off man.
  3. Finally, education. Many, i mean MANY drivers are uneducated. Instead of blaming cyclist, put out educational videos how to approach stop signs, how to approach non working traffic lights, what blinking orange lights mean and what blinking red lights mean. yes they mean differently. Educate how to approach a god damn roundabout!!! And the PROPER use of hazard lights. Just cause it rains, doesn’t mean you need your hazards on. Man i could go on. But yes, EDUCATION is important.
  4. Cyclist . Sorry but again not hating, same way you you have your hobbies, we all do ours as well. But yours is done on a highway that is already narrow, dangerous, with potholes and jagged edges. I once approached a cyclist on THE HIGHWAY, taking up his space, cars approaching and i suddenly had to slow and pass close to the cycliist. Cyclist stuck out his middle finger to me. But did he even notice what he COULD have caused? There was a vehicle behind me keeping up the rate of speed….for me to suddenly slow down on a HIGHWAY could cause an accident. So, Mr Middle Finger, entitled much? you want me to risk MY life so you can take up a chunk of an already narrow highway and run off the road or risk behind rear ended, while you keep riding your bike into the sunset? No sir, not here.  I wont risk my life nor those in the car with me.  Funny enough, another guy on a bike was up ahead, but he was NOT on the highway riding his merry way on the unpaved side.

Anyways,be safe out there everyone. Its a dangerous road indeed.

We need better and safer highways.  Bikers i feel for you!  You are not all bad eggs. But like legal gun holders, the blame has to be on someone right!

Criminals with illegal guns, carry on. You pay no fees
