By Aaron Humes: 61-year-old Wayne Myles, affectionately known as “Pie Bwai,” was fatally shot in his home this evening in the Kings’ Park area of Belize City.
Myles was a well-known street vendor, famous for his delectable pastries and sweet treats that brought joy to many in the city. According to preliminary police reports, Myles’ brother, Floyd Myles, was walking approximately 200 yards away from their residence when he heard multiple gunshots. Upon returning home, he discovered that Wayne had been shot.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived shortly after 8:00 p.m. to find Wayne Myles unresponsive, lying face-up in his home. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m., with officials indicating that he suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper left side of his body, near the rib cage.
Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Initial reports suggest that Wayne Myles may have been targeted due to a case of mistaken identity, as the shooter might have been aiming for a relative.
As the investigation unfolds, police are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward.
