By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A woman and her teenage son were injured during a violent domestic incident early this morning. The victim, a 45-year-old resident of San Victor Street, Orange Walk, reported that shortly after 1:00 a.m., she was asleep when her common-law partner arrived home intoxicated and started an argument.
According to the report, the man allegedly grabbed her by the hair, leading to a struggle during which she suffered a scrape to the left side of her face and a bruise to her lower lip.
Seeing the assault, the woman’s 16-year-old son attempted to defend his mother. The suspect then reportedly grabbed the teen by the hair and punched him in the face, causing pain and swelling.
A medico-legal form was issued to the victims. The woman told police she intends to file a formal complaint later today. The suspect was detained pending charges.
Officials remind the public that domestic violence is a crime and encourage victims to seek immediate protection and support.
