By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Following the launch of regional coconut training sessions, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries is preparing to host Belize Coconut Connect 2025: OCOP Sector Forum & B2B Matchmaking Expo at the National Agriculture and Trade Showgrounds in Belmopan on Wednesday, December 3. The event begins at 9:00 am.
According to Ministry focal point Enrique Rivas, the fair is envisioned as the premier annual gathering for Belize’s coconut industry, bringing together farmers, processors, exporters, and service providers. Rivas is encouraging prospective participants to register in advance.
The One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) Sector Forum and Business-to-Business Matchmaking Expo’s objectives include:
- Creating tangible business linkages between at least 20 coconut MSMEs and targeted buyers, exporters, and service providers.
- Formally launching and disseminating the updated Belize Coconut Industry Trade and Investment Prospectus and the Coconut Industry Strategy.
- Facilitating knowledge sharing on market requirements, quality standards, and financing opportunities.
- Showcasing innovation and value addition within the sector.
- Providing a platform for resource mobilization, connecting MSMEs with relevant financial and technical support.
The Coconut Connect Fair complements the ongoing regional training sessions by linking technical capacity-building with market opportunities, positioning Belize’s coconut industry for sustainable growth and competitiveness.
