By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Three residents of Corozal Town have been arrested and charged after police discovered cannabis during an early morning search on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025. The operation was conducted around 4:30 a.m. by officers of the Quick Response Team, who executed a drug search warrant at a home on 4th Avenue.
Police say that upon arrival, the team identified themselves to the occupant, 41-year-old Yara Oliva, before proceeding with the search. Also present inside the home were 19-year-old Alexander Obando and 24-year-old Osiel Oliva. When asked if they had anything illegal to declare, all three reportedly said “No.”
During the search, officers found a transparent glass jar containing a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis inside one of the bedrooms. The discovery was shown to the individuals, who were cautioned and informed of the offense of Possession of Controlled Drugs before being placed under arrest.
All three were escorted to the Corozal Police Station, where officers verified their rights and weighed the suspected cannabis. The substance amounted to 25.4 grams. It was sealed, labeled, and handed over to the exhibit keeper following proper chain-of-custody procedures.
