By Zoila Palma:  Chester Williams, CEO of the Ministry of Transport is reflecting on his decade-long journey since being called to the Bar in Belize.

Williams, who holds the title of Attorney-at-Law, highlighted how his legal training has influenced his career in public service and education.

“Exactly 10 years ago I was called to the bar to practice law in Belize. This gave me the title of Attorney-at-Law. Since then it has been such a journey for me,” Williams wrote.

He acknowledged that while he does not practice law, he continues to apply his legal knowledge in his current role as Transport CEO, stating, “As I continue my public service duties my legal training will always be used to enhance my ability to serve in the best possible manner.”

In addition to his administrative duties, Williams remains active in academia, lecturing at Wesley Junior College and the University of Belize. “Being in the classroom keeps my mind afresh in the law,” he noted.

Reflecting on his time as Commissioner of Police, he humorously added, “Oh, due to my tenure as Compol I have not used my gown in a very long time, well hopefully next year I will be dressed up for the opening of the 2026 legal year.”
