By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In a show of unity and commitment, the Belize City Council joined national partners this morning at the Flag Monument to launch the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, under the theme: “Prevent to Protect: Ending Gender-Based Violence Begins With Us.”

Sixteen symbolic flags were raised to honour gender-based violence survivors, raise awareness, and reaffirm the nation’s collective resolve to end violence in all its forms.

“This morning, we joined the nation in raising our voices and our flags,” the Belize City Council said, echoing the spirit of the event.

“As a Council, we remain steadfast in standing, marching, advocating, and working toward a safer Belize, one where women, men, boys, and girls are empowered, protected, and free from gender-based violence,” the Belize City Council said in reaffirming their commitment to advocacy and action.
