By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 23-year-old woman from San Jose Village, Orange Walk District, has reported to police that she was assaulted by her common-law husband during an argument at their home.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2025. The woman told police she entered the bedroom where her partner, a 23-year-old construction worker, was present. She asked him about an unfinished soft drink left on the bedside table, which allegedly caused him to become aggressive and begin yelling.
Trying to avoid further conflict, she sat on a plastic chair in the corner of the room. However, her partner reportedly continued arguing, and when she stood up, he allegedly punched her in the right ear and right cheek, causing her to fall to the floor.
Police recorded a statement and issued a medico-legal form. A doctor certified the injuries as harm. The accused man was later detained by police.
