The U16 Belize Girls National Team (BGNT) put up a strong fight against Guatemala on Sunday in the 2025 UNCAF FIFA Forward U16 Girls Tournament in Managua, Nicaragua, but eventually lost 2–1.
After conceding early, Belize equalized through Christel Tzul, who struck to make it 1–1 and give the side hope. Guatemala, however, regained the lead and held on for the win.
The U16 BGNT had started out with a 7-0 loss against hosts Nicaragua in their opening match on Friday. The side struggled to contain the home team’s attack.

Belize now have one game left to play, against El Salvador on Tuesday, November 25, at 4:30 pm at the Estadio Miguel “Chocorrón” Buitrago in Managua.
Although results have not gone Belize’s way so far, the tournament remains an important opportunity for the U16 Girls National Team to measure themselves against their regional peers and to build for the future.
Meanwhile, El Salvador have made a strong start to the tournament. They edged Guatemala 1–0 on Friday and then defeated Nicaragua 3–2 on Sunday, setting up Tuesday’s clash with Belize as a decisive fixture.
