By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City police officer is free of a wounding charge after the virtual complainant requested no further court action against him this week.

PC Clifton Major Jr., appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2 where he was read a single charge of wounding in connection with an alleged incident involving a 26-year-old woman on Friday, November 14, 2025. Major Jr. pleaded not guilty.

However, the case quickly came to an end when the woman took the stand and informed the court that she no longer wished to proceed with the matter. Following her request, the prosecutor offered no further evidence, and the charge was withdrawn for want of prosecution.

Major Jr. was immediately told he was free to go. The nature of the relationship between the officer and the woman, as well as the circumstances leading to the initial report, remain unclear.
