By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk are investigating a bold daylight robbery that took place on Friday morning at the Belize Marketing Board on San Lorenzo Road, where two armed men made off with over $44,000 in cash.
According to reports, around 9:30 a.m., two men of Creole descent arrived on a blue motorcycle at the compound’s entrance. When the security guard opened the gate for a client, one of the men, wearing a grey hoodie and a pink mask, ran inside the yard armed with a gun.
The suspect forced the security guard at gunpoint to escort him to the accounting office, where he pointed the weapon at a female employee and demanded money. The frightened staffer reportedly directed him to a drawer containing a Fort Knox-branded deposit bag filled with $44,000 in cash, representing sales from the previous day.
The gunman grabbed the bag and fled the scene, escaping with his accomplice on the motorcycle.
Police arrived shortly after, processed the crime scene, and reviewed security footage. Statements are expected to be recorded, and investigators continue to search for the two suspects.
No injuries were reported, but staff were left traumatized by the violent encounter. The investigation remains ongoing.
