Knife-wielding man follows victim home, gets chopped in the face

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in the Orange Walk District are investigating a violent confrontation between two men in San Lazaro Village that left one man hospitalized with a serious facial injury.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, when a 24-year-old man was reportedly walking home from a church event. Upon reaching near a gas station, he was approached by another man, later identified as Elmer Pott, who allegedly held a knife to his neck.

The victim managed to escape and ran home, but Pott reportedly followed him. Once at his residence, the young man armed himself with a machete and inflicted a chop wound to Pott’s face during the altercation.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the younger man had fled the area, while Pott had sustained a severe facial wound. Officers later visited Pott’s home, where he was seen bleeding heavily. He was immediately rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment under the care of his uncle.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to locate the suspect as inquiries continue.
