By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) learned the path for its Men’s U-20 National Team on Thursday, November 6, 2025, as Concacaf conducted the official draw for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers. Belize have been placed in Group A, a challenging group of six, as they compete for one of six coveted spots in the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship.

The tournament will run from February 23 to March 4, 2026, with 32 Concacaf Member Associations participating.

Belize’s Road Through Nicaragua

Belize were placed into Group A, and will compete against five other nations in a high-stakes round-robin format.

The Belize delegation will travel to Managua, Nicaragua, where Group A matches will be held at the Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago.

Tournament Format and Qualification

The qualification tournament features 32 teams split into six groups (two groups of six and four groups of five). The format is straightforward but unforgiving: only the first-place team from each of the six groups will advance to the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship.

These six winners will join the six top-ranked nations that have already pre-qualified directly for the Championship.

The 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship itself is scheduled for the summer, running from July 25 to August 9, and serves as the qualifying competition for both the 2027 FIFA Men’s U-20 World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Concacaf U-20 Qualifying Groups and Host Venues

The six qualifying groups will compete across Nicaragua, Curaçao, and Costa Rica:

Group Teams Host Country & Venue
Group A El Salvador, Suriname, Belize, Grenada, Saint Martin, French Guiana Nicaragua (Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago in Managua)
Group B Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, Bonaire Curaçao (Stadion Rignaal ‘Jean’ Francisca in Willemstad)
Group C Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, British Virgin Islands, Dominica Costa Rica (Complejo Deportivo FCRF-Plycem in San Rafael de Alajuela)
Group D Haiti, Curaçao, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla Curaçao (Stadion Rignaal ‘Jean’ Francisca in Willemstad)
Group E Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Barbados, Sint Maarten Costa Rica (Complejo Deportivo FCRF-Plycem in San Rafael de Alajuela)
Group F Canada, Nicaragua, Aruba, Martinique, US Virgin Islands Nicaragua (Estadio Miguel Chocorrón Buitrago in Managua)

With only one team from Group A advancing, Belize face a rigorous schedule, needing to overcome strong competition including regional power El Salvador to secure their place in the summer Championship.
