By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a potential scam involving an iPhone sale on Facebook Marketplace.

The complainant reported that she was deceived into exchanging her iPhone 16 Pro and $200 cash for a supposed iPhone 17 Pro Max listed online. The seller, using the Facebook account “Sweet Kris” and claiming to reside in San Pedro, arranged the trade.

A supposed receipt and tracking information were shared via WhatsApp, indicating the phone was shipped through Tropic Air. However, upon her arrival at Tropic Air, the complainant discovered that the receipt and tracking details were fraudulent. Despite attempts to contact the seller and a middleman, the complainant did not get back her money or either phone.
