By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belmopan FC have secured the fourth and final playoff berth in the Premier League of Belize 2025–2026 Opening Championship after defeating Wagiya SC 3–1 in their rescheduled Week 10 clash on Wednesday afternoon in Dangriga.
The long-awaited fixture, originally postponed due to scheduling disputes and national team commitments, finally took place in the southern town. Belmopan FC entered the match with 14 points and needed a win to guarantee their place in the semifinals. They delivered with clinical finishing and disciplined defending, silencing the home crowd and dashing Wagiya’s playoff hopes.
With the victory, Belmopan FC now sit on 17 points, out of reach of both Napoles FC and Wagiya SC. Napoles, currently fifth with 13 points, can only reach 16 with one game remaining, while Wagiya, stuck at 11 points, can only total 14 even if they win their final match.

The result also brings closure to a contentious chapter in the PLB season, marked by delays, disciplinary reviews, and public frustration from Wagiya SC over perceived inconsistencies in league enforcement.
As the regular season wraps up this weekend, attention now shifts to the playoff matchups, where Belmopan FC will look to carry their momentum into the semifinals against one of the top-seeded teams.
