By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man accused of robbing four women at gunpoint while they were socializing at a home on West Canal has been charged and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 16, 2025, as police continue to search for a second suspect.

The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Michael Gladden, also known as “Wannie,” a Belize City resident described by one of the victims as having a “lazy left eye.” Gladden was arraigned before Magistrate Mannon Dennison today on four counts of robbery. He pleaded not guilty but was denied bail due to the seriousness of the offenses.

According to police, the incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, when two masked men entered the residence of Sasha Thomas on West Canal, where she and three friends — Sharon Hertular, Kenescia Hertular, and Geraldine Codd — were socializing.

The women reported that one man, armed with a firearm emitting a blue light from its nozzle, ordered the other — who carried a kitchen knife — to search them. The assailants made off with cell phones, jewelry, cash, and a motorcycle key, with the stolen items valued at a total of $3,827 Belize dollars.

After the robbery, the men reportedly fled in the direction of Rocky Road. One of the victims later identified Gladden — her ex-cousin-in-law — by his voice and distinctive eye feature.

Police quickly detained Gladden following the identification, but his alleged accomplice remains at large. Notably, Gladden is currently out on High Court bail for an attempted murder charge pending before Justice Candace Nanton.

He is expected to reappear in court on December 16, 2025.
